Dear Friends, Dear All,

I, along with my Brother, Tomek, and my friend, Dave, will be departing for Kathmandu on the 27th of April and beginning our 18-day trek to Mt Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and Kala Patthar (5644 m) the following day.

The purpose of my expedition is not only to explore the breathtaking Himalayan Mountains and achieve a personal goal, but also to collect funds under our PLEWA Family Foundation in cooperation with The Nasio Trust.

The Nasio Trust (UK Reg Charity No. 1104542) is UK based non-governmental organization operating in Western Kenya that focuses on child education, health and welfare, as well as on assisting the local community in breaking the cycle of poverty. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the charity’s projects. Please have a look at www.thenasiotrust.org for further information.

As some of you may know, last year my Brother and I initiated the PLEWA Family Foundation with the goal of supporting the education of children in Africa. In this regard, we hope that by cooperating with The Nasio Trust we can contribute sustainably to communities in need and contribute to Nasio’s belief that “children should live with dignity in a loving family, and without being disadvantaged or stigmatized by the cause of their vulnerability” (The Nasio Trust). In supporting The Nasio Trust and its causes through this expedition, I have committed to a rigorous 30-week training program to ensure that I have the ability to complete this challenge. I train three to four times a week, and over the past 21 weeks I have lost 10 kg of weight and gained the physical and mental strength to transform this goal into a reality. It proves to me that when a commitment is authentic, it has the power to lead to tangible impacts. I have included some photos from my journey so far below.
